BEE MEETS

THE ODDABEES

“It’s not what we look like that’s such a big thing.

It’s what we all do that makes me and you.”

How did you get to be like you?
Don’t ask me, I haven’t any glue.
Am I supposed to be something else?
First I was born, and then transformed?
With scissors and glue she made me and you.
And what about now? What’s really true?
Well, I’ve given you all the clues that I can.
Now I’m off to be me, to learn who I am.

MAKE & PLAY THE ODDABEE WAY

Have you ever painted a picture and when you finished it was not what you wanted? All of the Oddabees in this book were made from paintings I almost threw away. I used scissors and cut my paintings into small pieces. Now I had the beginnings of a new painting called a “collage.”

Building your own Oddabee collage:

You will need pieces of colorful paper. Previous art work works well. Cut your old work into unusual shapes large and small. Start at the top with a shape for the head. A body is next with a place to attach arms and legs. Don’t forget hands and feet. You might use some ears and a couple of eyes. When everything is arranged just the way you like, glue it all down. I’m sure it looks great!

Love, Betty
